Main screen and billing

When you turn on the touch cash register and run Dotypos, the main screen appears, which is the starting point for all cash register operations. You can find a detailed description of the individual parts of the main screen in the Main screen guide.

The user interface and control panels layout may differ depending on the device used to run Dotypos and its preferences. The main screen and application control panels adjust the display size. On mobile phones with the display smaller than 8" Dotypos switches into the mobile view.




The touch cash register’s user interface is displayed below. When you start operating the cash register, the first step is always to open it. This chapter explains how to open and close the cash register.


When activating the cash register, if you chose Trade for the type of establishment, or if in the Cash register settings for the Cash register mode you chose Immediate sale, you will not see the Product panel in the main section of the screen on the picture with the number, 06but the calculator instead. This enables you to a so-called “immediate sale”. You will find more information about this function in the chapter Immediate sale.


Main screen and basic operations with cash register


01 Side menu - enter into Dotypos additional settings, sales overviews or reports.  You will also find the option Managing items, which is used to create products and their categories. Unless you are already set up in ERS mode, you will find the function to set up this mode, or alternatively it will display the status of the document’s “fiscalization” (status of documents to be recorded with the Financial Administration). Tap on the item License to display the actual license type and the license code associated with this cash register.

02 Side menu - click this icon to display the Side menu. If an exclamation mark is displayed next to this icon menu-chybait means some documents were not sent to the Financial Administration (recorded). Look at the Status of order “fiscalization” (orders to be recorded with the Financial Administration) chapter for tips on how to deal with that situation.

03 Tile menu - contains the buttons for basic cash register operations. In the bottom part, the last closed or open order and the sum of the currently open order are continuously displayed. A description of individual buttons can be found in this chapter. Once you charge a product, the tile menu disappears and the currently opened order is displayed. Clicking on the items in the order lets you adjust their properties and quantities.

04 Category panel - Displays the product categories that have been created. You can move this strip horizontally using your finger.

05 Category list - If you have a large quantity of categories, this icon displays them as a transparent tile.

06 Product panel - Clicking on the selected category displays the products belonging to this category in this section. Clicking on the product records it. If the table map is active, it is displayed here and the products will not be displayed until the specific table is selected. Once a product has been recorded, it will be displayed on the left side as an item in the order. Clicking on the items in the order lets you adjust their properties and quantities. You can move products horizontally using your finger.

07 Searching - Click on the icon to display the dialog for the full-text searching of products.

08 Searching by PLU code - Click on the icon to search products by PLU code.

09 Printing control receipts - Clicking on the icon prints a control check of the parked order without having to close it. To enable the option to print check receipts you have to go to Print settings and add the task Printing receipts. You can print the check order summary also from the menu Order options.

You can use the control check as preliminary information for the customer before closing and settling an order. More information about this option can be found in the article on Printing control receipts for informing the guest in the knowledge database.

010 Issue order - Clicking on the button displays the settlement dialog, where you can settle the order.

011 Display PLU keyboard - Click to show the keyboard for entering the numeric PLU code. How this icon is displayed depends on this setting.

012 Data synchronization - automatically synchronizes data between the cash register and Dotypos Cloud at each operation. The cloud icon indicates synchronization in progress. When the Internet connection is not working, the cloud icon is red.

If you click and hold the selected product tile current stock information will be displayed.



How do I bill in Dotypos?

1.In the main screen, click on the product selected 06 from the chosen category 04. By repeatedly tapping you add the product quantity to the order. The charged products are added to the right side as order items, see Screen with charged products below. You can modify the order items in future.

2.If you do not need the products created in advance, you can bill using a simple calculator called Immediate sale.

3.Once the products are charged, click on the button Issue order. 010. Then the Settlement dialog will be displayed where you can make the final order settlement.

You charge products simply by choosing the category and clicking on the selected product. An order opens on the left side of the screen. If you click on the right-hand side product more times, the appropriate amount to be charged for it will be recorded. You can also set the quantity with the buttons 03.

Clicking on the product(s) in the open order displays the button for adjusting them. To delete the product from the order click on 01. Use the button 02 to adjust or display the charged product properties. This lets you adjust the quantity, price or granted discount for a specific order and displays notes on the product.

Use the button 04 to park the account and it will remain open. You can go back anytime later and charge more items. Click the button 05 to display the menu for other operations with the account. If the table map is active, the order is automatically parked in the table to which the order belongs.

Issue order displays the settlement dialog and lets you settle the order.


Empty order

If you remove all items from the order, it will be empty. In such case, either return by clicking Back 01 or use the button for the next cash register operation 02 and cancel the account or park for adding an item later.

You can also start with an empty order when you click on a table on the table map with no open order. If you now charge products using the standard procedure, they will be added to this open order and to the relevant table.

If the Table map is active, the main screen shows it instead of categories and products. In this case first click on the map to select the desired table and then charge products to this table. Once you have finished charging, you can close the order or park it and go back to the table map. On the map, the table with an open (active) order is highlighted in color corresponding to the order duration with the duration time. On the bottom of the map, you can find buttons to change the scale or to go to the next map page.



Information about the time since the last order adjustment on the table map

One minute after parking, every order starts displaying the time since the last order adjustment. This information gives the crew an overview of the period since the last service was provided to guests. According to the time set, the table color changes from green to orange and then to red. So you get a simple message that the table was not served for a long time. You can change the time interval or eventually switch the feature off in Table map settings.
