Creating, moving and deleting categories

Categories are used for the transparent management of products. It is recommended to create the categories prior to creating the products themselves and then inserting the products directly in individual categories.

You can also manage the categories in Dotypos Cloud.

 

How do I create a category?

In the touch cash register main screen click on the icon 01 Side menu 02 and select Item management.

On the open page click on + ADD NEW in the top right corner 01 and from the displayed menu select Categories 02.

Select the name of the category and then click on 01 to select the category color. You can set a uniform VAT rate for items in this category by clicking on the pull-down menu 02. However, if you have already set the rate for each product, the rate given to the product will apply. The newly created product will take over the tax for the category. The rate for a category will also be automatically applied in the case of an immediate sale, if you use the category as a name of the sold item.

Keep the option Display in main menu active, otherwise the category will not be displayed on the cash register. It is useful to hide the category when you e.g. want to insert products (ingredients) for ingredient in warehouse into this category. Then you do not have to hide each product (ingredient) individually.

If you have products in the given category that do not have to be fiscalized, activate the option Do not fiscalize in the section 03. This way, no products in this category will be recorded at sale. When drawing an order, a note in the settlement dialog will appear, stating that some items will not be fiscalized (recorded). The option Do not fiscalize is also available in the product preferences. This means you can activate it for the whole category or for one product.

If you want all of the products in the specified category to be sent to the Financial Administration on behalf of an ERS subject other than the one set in the ERS settings, check the option Sell by proxy and in the list select the subject from Management of ERS subjects that was earlier added. When drawing the order a notice will be displayed in the settlement dialog that the document for the selected product of this category will be drawn by proxy.

Save the new category by clicking on Save 04.

When selling by proxy, you will see a figure icon next to the specified category or product, this is the symbol for sale by proxy. The option Do not fiscalize is also indicated by an icon.

How do I move a category?

Categories can be moved simply with a long click to activate the sorting mode and then by dragging the icon to move the category up or down. This changes the order of categories displayed on the main screen. Long click the category you want moved and the sorting icon appears. Now click on the sorting icon next to the selected category and drag it to the desired location.

How do I adjust or delete a created category?

Go to Item management, select the category on the left-hand side list and click on the pencil icon 01. A dialog with the preferences of the selected category appears, here you can adjust its preferences and save it. To delete, click Delete in this dialog 02 then confirm the category deletion by clicking Yes.

If you delete a category containing products, you will not lose them. Instead, the products in the deleted category will be moved to the default category All. However, this category is visible only in item management.
